RWJ Integrated Health Care
RWJ Integrated Health Care (RWJIH) is an Independent Practice Association, whose services are available to the physicians of the Robert Wood Johnson Health System. RWJIH provides education and experience to participating physicians and offers a clear path from fee-for-service reimbursement to value-based reimbursement, promoting coordination of care and the functions and processes necessary for clinical and financial integration, in order to be prepared for the future of health care delivery.
Mission Statement
The Mission of RWJ Integrated Health Care, LLC (RWJIH) is to forge a collaborative effort among the RWJ Health System (RWJHS), Rutgers RWJ Medical School, and RWJIH participating physicians to provide coordinated, high-quality, and patient-centered services to purchasers of health care in Central and Northern New Jersey.
Vision Statement
RWJIH aspires to be a recognized leader in achieving the “Triple Aim” of health care reform by improving the health of the populations its serves, enhancing the patient experience of care, and reducing the per capita costs of health care. While pursuing this Vision, RWJIH will seek to foster greater alignment with community-based physicians, expand the continuum of care, and serve as a bridge to greater physician participation in the Robert Wood Johnson Partners ACO.

RWJ Integrated Health Care
- RWJIH is offering its participating physicians competitive health insurance, a medical malpractice insurance program and group purchasing, and other services as determined by the Board of Managers
- Participation will support community-based physicians who wish to remain independent as an alternative to Hospital employment
- The resources and infrastructure arranged by RWJIH will assist physicians in achieving the clinical quality and efficiencies to be successful in the future delivery of health care
- Membership in RWJIH will make participating physicians more attractive to health plans that seek arrangements with providers who can deliver and demonstrate quality care, efficiency and improved outcomes
- RWJIH will facilitate improved reimbursement for member physicians, and future participation in health plans’ value-based reimbursement programs, consistent with industry trends
- RWJIH will work with participating physicians to support their adoption of information technology to facilitate the delivery of quality, efficient and cost-effective health care
- Participating physicians will, in collaboration with RWJ leadership, shape the strategic and tactical direction of the RWJIH organization; the majority of the RWJIH Board of Managers will be community-based physicians

To participate in RWJ Integrated Health care, do I have to be a member of the medical staff of one or more of the RWJHS Hospitals?
Yes, to participate in RWJIH you must be a member of the medical staff of one or more of the RWJHS hospitals. -
The annual cost for participation is $200 per physician, capped at 10 physicians. Meaning there will be a maximum payment of $2,000 for practices of 10 physicians or more. No up-front capital is required for membership.

RWJ Integrated Health Care is governed by a Board of Managers consisting of actively practicing physicians from the hospitals of the Robert Wood Johnson Health System and Health System Leadership.

To participate in RWJ Integrated Health care, LLC, do I need to have an electronic health record (EHR) system in my office?
No, an electronic health record system is not required. However, over time it will be advantageous to utilize an EHR. -
Does participation in RWJ Integrated Health care impact my existing participation agreements with health plans?
No, participation in RWJ Integrated Health care neither voids nor limits existing participation agreements with health plans, but it could result in a higher reimbursement level for your practice. -
RWJIH needs access to clinical data for patients who are members of health plans, so that RWJIH can analyze the data for future improvement of processes and patient care outcomes.
