Eligibility for Cardiac Rehabilitation

Cardiac Rehab at RWJUH Cardiac rehabilitation can improve quality of life for people with a wide variety of heart conditions and diseases. It is available to individuals who have recently experienced any of the following:

  • congestive heart failure (CHF), also known as chronic heart failure
  • coronary stent placement
  • bypass surgery
  • valve surgery
  • stable angina
  • heart attack
  • angioplasty
  • heart transplant
  • left ventricular assisted device (LVAD) implantation

Inpatient versus Outpatient Admission

If you are a undergoing a cardiac procedure at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH), your care team will provide you with valuable information during your hospital stay that will guide you through a successful transition to the outpatient cardiac rehab program. Once you are an outpatient, a physician referral is needed to enter the program.

Individuals who are not currently being treated at the hospital may also apply to the rehab program with a referral from their physician.
