Mobile Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)

The mobile pediatric intensive care unit is equipped to transfer the sickest, most medically fragile patients.

The Bristol-Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital knows that pediatric patients are unique and require a special team of experts to deliver them safely and quickly to a pediatric facility specializing in their care. Our Pediatric Transport and Outreach Program, made up of specially trained doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists and emergency technicians, is available 24-hours-a day, seven-days-a-week.

Two fully equipped mobile pediatric intensive care units (PICU) are available to transfer the sickest, most medically fragile infant or child from any hospital in the tri-state area at any time of the day or night. Our team transports over 1000 children from around the state to our children’s hospital every year. The mobile pediatric intensive care unit is equipped to transfer the sickest, most medically fragile patients.

Within moments after calling 1-866-66-BMSCH (1-866-662-6724) you will speak with a member of out Pediatric Transport and Outreach Program. You will then be connected to a pediatric intensive care physician if necessary, who will receive further information about your patient’s condition and be available for advice until we arrive at your facility.

Members of our transport team will arrive in a state-of-the-art ambulance outfitted for a full range of pediatric and neonatal intensive care services.

The Bristol-Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital is also equipped to receive patients by helicopter on our hospital-based landing pad.
