Pulmonary Critical Care Fellowship
at Community Medical Center
Welcome to the Pulmonary and Critical Care fellowship program at Community Medical Center (CMC). We are passionate about developing highly trained fellows into compassionate, clinically astute physicians with a range of expertise in pulmonary and critical care medicine. Our goal is to train fellows who would serve their communities in clinical care, education and scientific investigation. Our program is dedicated to providing a learning environment that values diversity and inclusiveness and teaches physicians to work in inter-professional settings.
Toms River, NJ is situated in a working class community, diverse in race, ethnicity and socioeconomic status. Being a coastal community, the diversity and population expands further during the summer months, providing a wide spectrum of clinical pathophysiology. CMC is the largest medical center in the area and therefore serves as the primary health care center for this diverse population.
The program provides a comprehensive clinical experience across several critical care settings, along with inpatient and ambulatory pulmonary training. Fellows train with the latest technology including point-of-care ultrasound, endobronchial ultrasound, bedside fiberoptic bronchoscopy, and video laryngoscopy. A full spectrum simulation lab supplements fellow education. The program core curriculum provides a comprehensive education in pulmonary and critical care medicine. The curriculum consists of thoughtful lecture series, grand rounds and journal clubs. Fellows also have six months of dedicated research time to pursue scientific investigation.
For those who have chosen this academic pursuit beyond residency, we welcome you. We look forward to guiding you to a new career.
