Orthopedic Surgery Residency
Monmouth Medical Center
About the Program
Established in 1945, the orthopaedic surgery residency program at Monmouth Medical Center is the oldest orthopaedic residency program in New Jersey.
The primary goal of Monmouth Medical Center’s Orthopaedic Surgery Residency is to provide a comprehensive educational program to develop excellent orthopaedic surgeons. Residents receive academic instruction and clinical training from a staff of more than 40 orthopaedic surgeons who use Monmouth Medical Center as their primary inpatient hospital. Three other institutions contribute to the educational experience of our residents, which offers in-depth exposure to various subspecialties, practice models, and patient populations.
By becoming part of the medical team and participating in the department’s active research program, residents learn the latest in orthopaedic advances and techniques. The uniqueness of the program affords early surgical exposure and unparalleled operative experience. Upon completion of the five-year program, they have the skills and knowledge needed to begin an orthopaedic practice or to enter fellowship training.
Residency and fellowship programs training at RWJBarnabas Health benefit from the resources and interprofessional opportunities available through the Rutgers Health institutional sponsorship.
