Rutgers Health - Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship
The goal of the Rutgers Health - Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship is to cultivate leaders and well-rounded physicians in primary care sports medicine equipped to care for athletes at all levels of competition and phases of their life.
The fellowship is a one year, ACGME-accredited program with intensive, collaborative instruction, and diverse team physician experiences. Affiliated with the Rutgers-NJMS Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and RWJBarnabas Health (RWJBH), it offers a unique combination of academic and community-based resources and experiences.
The fellow is exposed to a full spectrum of orthopedic/musculoskeletal concerns and medical disorders in the athlete. They are immersed in the primary care sports medicine office setting, exposed to state-of-the-art concussion care at the Matthew J. Morahan III Health Assessment Center for Athletes at RWJBarnabas Health, and engaged in team physician roles at the high school, NCAA Division I, and professional level. Additionally, the fellow will receive experience in a variety of musculoskeletal procedures, including diagnostic ultrasound, ultrasound-guided injections, casting/splinting, and cryoneurolysis. The program offers routine exposure to innovative technology and cutting-edge practices within the field.
With a comprehensive group of core faculty, supported by adjunct faculty and our collaborative sports medicine team, our goal is to develop not only the fellow’s knowledge but their confidence in being a competent, comprehensive, and independent sports medicine provider.
