Sleep Lab

The SleepCare™ Center at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Rahway can help you get the sleep you need. Our state-of-the-art sleep disorder center provides testing and diagnosis of more than 100 known sleep disorders. Based on your medical history and a physical exam by your doctor, we may recommend an overnight sleep study and a test that can pinpoint the reasons you can’t fall asleep or stay asleep.

Most major insurance carriers cover sleep tests. The results of your study are sent to your physician with recommendations for treatment. We perform all insurance pre-certifications that may be required.

For your convenience, we also have home equipment you can wear while you sleep in your own bed. The equipment is dispensed at the hospital by sleep technologists who instruct you on its use. The equipment is then returned to the center for transmission of data. Both attended and unattended studies are interpreted by board-certified sleep specialists. The SleepCare Center at RWJ Rahway can be reached by calling 866.753.3740.

Do you have a sleep disorder?

Do you have trouble falling asleep? Do you wake frequently during the night? Do you repeatedly wake up tired in the morning, even after what feels like a full night’s sleep? Are you told you snore, gasp, talk or thrash around in your sleep?

If you do, you may have a sleep disorder. And you are not alone. Some 65 million American adults say they have trouble with their sleep. To date, more than 100 sleep disorders have been identified.

Chronic lack of sleep or poor quality sleep affects your health and safety. It can also interfere with your relationships. That’s where our SleepCare Center comes in. Our studies take place in private, hotel-like rooms complete with comfortable furniture, a private bathroom, television, reading lamp and shower. Here, a sleep technologist prepares you for the study and monitors you throughout the stay. The results are then evaluated by a board-certified physician in sleep medicine and forwarded to your personal physician, along with a diagnosis and recommendation for treatment.*

What does sleep testing tell us?

The test provides us with a comprehensive record of your sleep patterns, leg movements, blood oxygen levels, heart rhythm, breathing and snoring. Your test results are promptly evaluated by a board-certified sleep specialist, who will forward them to your personal physician, along with a diagnosis and recommendation for treatment.
