Brain Related Injuries and Disorders

Treatment for brain-related disorders and injuries in New Jersey

Whether we consciously realize it or not, we rely on our brains to control every single action our body takes. However, these unimaginably complex organs are also incredibly fragile. Our skulls provide a certain amount of protection, but even the slightest amount of damage can dramatically affect how it functions.

Our Neuroscience Centers are equipped to handle all types of serious brain-related conditions including strokes, concussions, epilepsy and all forms of seizure disorders and brain and spinal tumors. Our integrated team of neurologists, surgeons and oncologists coordinate to provide our patients with the sophisticated care they need.

Stroke centers

Our stroke centers specialize in emergency care, inpatient treatment and rehabilitation for stroke and transient ischemic attacks (TIA). Our designated team of doctors, nurses and therapists utilize our state-of-the-art diagnostic brain imaging capabilities, an intensive care unit led by medical professionals skilled in managing neurological emergencies, an inpatient stroke care unit with specially trained nurses and inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation programs.

Brain & spinal tumors

Zocchi Brain Tumor Center at the Leon Hess Cancer Center provides patients with a tumor originating in their brain or spinal cord, as well as neurological complications caused by their cancer that has spread to other regions of the body with a full spectrum of comprehensive services. Our multidisciplinary team of health care professionals work together to provide our patients with collaborative and advanced treatment options that best suit their situations. We strive to provide our patients with the best clinical management and treatment options and enhance the quality of their and their families’ lives by addressing all of their needs, including physical, social, family, emotional, functional, cognitive, and spiritual dimensions, through excellence of clinical management and research programs.

Brain injury support program

Opportunity Project partnered with Children’s Specialized Hospital, an RWJBarnabas Health facility, in an effort to provide a point of entry into the adult service market for people with special health care needs. This partnership has provided an opportunity to address challenges associated with child-to-adult transitions when it comes to programs, services, care, and community integration for these young adults.
