New Jersey’s largest pediatric emergency department with treatment delivered by physicians who are Board Certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Emergency Medicine in a department of the hospital dedicated to pediatric emergencies.

The Emergency Pediatrics Center is uniquely qualified to provide immediate and total care for all aspects of childhood emergency injuries and illnesses. Over 27,000 children are treated annually in this department designed to meet the needs of infants, children and adolescents. The department is staff by four full-time pediatric doctor checking the heartbeat of a young childemergency physicians who are board certified in pediatrics and have additional training in pediatric emergency medicine. The nursing professionals are all experienced in pediatric emergency medicine and critical care and are certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support. The recently expanded Emergency Pediatric Center includes a waiting area separate from adult patients and provides a child-friendly environment that comfortably accommodates the patient and family. The Center’s services and technology include:

  • Specialized exam and resuscitation areas with equipment to handle medical emergencies involving children of all sizes
  • Immediate access to the full range of pediatric sub specialists at the Children’s Hospital of New Jersey, including Pediatric Intensive Care, Neonatal Intensive Care and the NJ Poison Information and Education System (NJPIES)
