Advanced Pediatric Gastroenterology Care
Our teams of gastroenterologists and related staff offer complete diagnostic testing, consultation, treatment, and follow-up care for gastrointestinal and nutritional disorders for newborns and children through 18 years of age. Physicians who are board certified in pediatrics and pediatric gastroenterology diagnose and treat disorders including inflammatory bowel disease, chronic abdominal pain, feeding problems, acute and chronic liver disease, chronic constipation, diarrhea, and more.
Our facilities across New Jersey provide pre- and post-liver transplant care, and we are experts in the diagnosis and treatment of common pediatric gastrointestinal disorders such as: gastroesophageal reflux (GERD), colic, feeding difficulties, peptic ulcer disease, constipation, chronic abdominal pain, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), food allergies, celiac disease, chronic diarrhea, blood in the stool, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), Crohn disease, ulcerative colitis, and intestinal polyps.
We also diagnose and treat pediatric liver disorders such as: jaundice, infectious hepatitis (hepatitis A, B, and C), fatty liver, metabolic liver disease (such as Wilson's, alpha 1 antitrypsin deficiency), portal hypertension, and autoimmune hepatitis.
When it comes to the nutritional disorders we diagnose and treat, we help pediatric patients suffering from failure to thrive (poor weight gain), lactose intolerance, feeding disabilities leading to the need for tube feedings, and pancreatic insufficiency.
Our pediatric gastroenterologists also provide a variety of testing and diagnostic procedures to patients with gastrointestinal disorders, including: upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy, capsule endoscopy (pillcam®), breath testing for sugar intolerance (lactose, fructose, sucrose), removal of polyps (polypectomy), opening of intestinal narrowings (stricture dilation), gastric tube placement (PEG), control of intestinal bleeding (cauterizing, variceal banding), pH probe monitoring (traditional and wireless), fecal disimpaction, infliximab (Remicade®) infusion, and liver biopsy.
Most digestive diseases are very complex, with subtle symptoms, and the causes of many remain unknown. They may be inherited or develop from multiple factors such as stress, fatigue, diet, or smoking. But with world-class technology and our integrated, multidisciplinary network of doctors and surgeons, we are pleased to provide extraordinary patient care for your child.
