Medical Care for the New Jersey LGBT Community

At our facilities, we strive to meet the diverse healthcare needs of our community. The LGBTQIA program is part of our initiative to provide quality healthcare to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) community. Our hospitals and medical centers are welcoming, inclusive environments where people from all walks of life can seek the medical care they need.

Nationally Recognized Diversity Programs

LGBTQIA services are not specialized medical services, rather, they are policies intended to eliminate the disparities in care LGBT patients often face when seeking medical care. Several of our hospitals have been awarded the Leader in LGBTQ Healthcare Equality recognition by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. This requires us to meet certain criteria:

  • Upholding an explicit patient non-discrimination policy
  • Instituting an equal visitation policy for LGBT couples
  • Maintaining an employment non-discrimination policy
  • Staff training in LGBT Patient-Centered Care

Our staff regularly creates and attends community events that promote LGBT inclusion. We also aim to educate the community to counteract misleading information regarding common health concerns in the LGBT community.
