Treating Pediatric Rheumatic Conditions
Rheumatic diseases in children are complex, often involving chronic conditions with fluctuating courses that frequently go undiagnosed or misdiagnosed. The disorders are life threatening and poorly understood; therefore early diagnosis is essential to properly manage these children to prevent potential long-term complications affecting growth, development and quality of life.
That’s why our Pediatric Rheumatology Division is proud to be a leading force across New Jersey when it comes to treating pediatric rheumatic conditions.
Rheumatic diseases are diverse and frequently involve several areas of the body including joints, muscles, the spine and the skin. Some of the most common types of rheumatic disease diagnosed and treated by our professionals include:
- Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis
- Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
- Mixed Connective Tissue Disease
- Spondyloarthropathy
- Hypermobility Syndromes
- Reactive Arthritis
- Myositis
- Lyme Arthritis
- Juvenile Dermatomyositis
- Vasculitides
- Systemic Sclerosis
- Linear Scleroderma
- Morphea
- Fibromyalgia
- Periodic Fever Syndromes
- Regional Musculoskeletal Pain Syndromes
- Other Autoimmune Diseases
We approach pediatric rheumatology with clinical multidisciplinary teams. These teams are led by a pediatric rheumatologist working closely with other nurses and practitioners based on specific individual patient needs.
