JLGBT Program at Jersey City Medical Centerersey City Medical Center is dedicated to meeting the health care needs of our Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning (LGBTQ) community. We offer a variety of health and educational services which promote LGBTQ health equity and access to care. To that end, Jersey City Medical Center has created several policies and programs addressing issues facing the LGBTQ community.

Jersey City Medical Center has been acknowledged as an LGBTQ Health Equality Leader by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation since 2014 for our organization’s continued effort in caring for LGBTQ patients and recognizing the contributions of our LGBTQ employees.

We are committed to ensuring that LGBTQ patients can access quality health care in an accepting and supportive environment.

JCMC Pride Promise Committee

The Pride Promise Committee membership is comprised of employees from various departments and units within the hospital. The Pride Promise Committee conducts meetings on a quarterly basis, or as deemed necessary by the Chairpersons of the committee.

The mission of the Jersey City Medical Center Pride Promise Committee is to serve as the advocating body for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer/Questioning employee community as well as for the patrons of JCMC within Hudson County.

Objectives

  • Decrease LGBTQ related health care disparities by creating an inclusive and culturally competent hospital environment and workforce.

  • Encourage staff and community engagement in activities, projects and programs that promote LGBTQ inclusivity.

  • Educate the organization on current LGBTQ health related trends and best practices that support the LGBTQ community in accessing quality health care.

  • Educate the LGBTQ community on the values, purpose, and benefits of Jersey City Medical Center as an LGBTQ centered medical home.
