Jersey City Medical Center’s SCTU is available for all critical or specialty care patient transport needs. All of our vehicles are equipped with state of the art electronics, safety, and patient care equipment including AVL and GPS to ensure a rapid response and safe dependable transport.

The Jersey City Medical Center’s Specialty Care Transport Unit (SCTU) can provide treatment and transport for your most critically ill or injured patients. Transfers between health care facilities for patients that require advanced life support or specialized life sustaining equipment is available.

Specially trained staff at our communications center receives your requests for service and coordinate the dispatching of all your specialty care transports. We are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. One of our Registered Nurses will contact the patient’s nurse or doctor after receiving your call to ensure the proper resources are brought to your location. Face to face, nurse to nurse, communication ensures a smooth transition and continuous care during transport.

The unit is staffed with one Mobile Intensive Care Nurse and either one Mobile Intensive CLiberty Health Ambulanceare Paramedic or one Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B). All of our nurses are certified by New Jersey as advanced pre- hospital care providers as well as Emergency or Critical Care nursing. Our team of nurses average over 8 years of critical care in-hospital and pre-hospital experience, making them the ideal resource to provide this unique service. Our team is experienced and trained in cardiac monitoring, balloon pumps, intravenous medication administration, ventilator management, pediatric, and geriatric care.
