The opening of the Cooperman Family Pavilion in 2017 changed New Jersey’s healthcare landscape dramatically. By increasing dedicated clinical space by 241,000 square feet, the Medical Center cemented a longstanding commitment to clinical excellence and an exceptional patient experience.

Through expanded and upgraded facilities and spaces that optimize patient privacy and convenience, the Cooperman Family Pavilion is a centerpiece for 21st century innovation that enhances wellness, increases access to care, and improves patient outcomes.

Clinical Excellence

  • Increased capacity with an additional 135 all-private beds, including a 30-bed step-down unit dedicated to caring for acutely ill patients.
  • Renovated and expanded the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) fivefold in its first redesign since opening in 1993 to better care for nearly 1,000 infants each year.
  • Added four new nursing units in Medicine/Surgery, Oncology, Neurosurgery, and Orthopedics.

Patient Experience

  • The Eric F. and Lore Ross Lobby offers a natural light-filled entrance to ensure a calming welcome to all patients and visitors to the hospital.
  • The Schonbraun Family Centralized Patient Registration Center provides streamlined service with an emphasis on privacy as patients and guests begin their hospital experience.
  • The Kogan Family Non-Invasive Diagnostic Testing and the Expanded Pre-Admission Testing Department are conveniently located and offer patients a private and comfortable setting for pre-operative preparation and education.
