Since its inception in 1954, the Auxiliary of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital has worked tirelessly to enhance patient care, programs and facilities at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. The Auxiliary's mission is two-fold.

The Auxiliary is committed to raising funds in order to continually improve the hospital's facilities and services

Working side by side with the hospital's administration team, the Auxiliary identifies a project on which to dedicate its efforts and sets a financial goal. The Auxiliary has made possible such improvements as: the construction of The Chapel for all Faiths, a pediatric playdeck, surgical waiting room and more. The Auxiliary's financial commitment has made and continues to make a great impact on the hospital's growth and reputation.

The Auxiliary is committed to the patients and families of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital

The second component of the Auxiliary's mission is more personal in nature. The Auxiliary has ancillary groups of Auxilians, called "twigs," that concentrate their efforts on making each patient's stay a little brighter by providing special handmade crafts and other "little touches" that demonstrate the compassion and caring of these dedicated individuals.

Whether you have one hour a day or one month a year, your time and talents are needed for the Auxiliary of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. Become a part of this remarkable group that works in so many innovative ways for the benefit of one of the nation's leading academic health centers, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.

To become a member of the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Auxiliary, there is a charge of $20 for a year or $100 for a lifetime membership. You will also be eligible for the Spring Dinner. Applicants that are considered to be candidates for the scholarships will be invited for personal interviews, where the Auxiliary Scholarship Committee members will have the opportunity to learn more about the applicant through informal questions and conversation.

Only those chosen for interviews will be notified of their interview via e-mail.

Interviews will be held late April or early May and will be scheduled in the afternoon between 3:30 and 7:30 p.m. on the selected day.

As representatives of a volunteer organization, the Auxiliary Scholarship Committee members place a strong emphasis on the applicant's history of community services; including volunteerism peer support, and other methods of giving him or herself to the community. Evaluation of academic strength and personal achievements are also important factors in the selection process.

The decision process is never easy. Each year there are several diverse applicants for four scholarship awards. The committee always does its best to be fair and thorough.

The four scholarship recipients and two additional family members will be invited to attend the Annual Auxiliary Scholarship Dinner on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 in the Arline and Henry Schwartzman Courtyard at RWJUH at which time the scholarship awards will be presented.
