Lymphedema Therapy

Lymphedema is abnormal swelling caused by lymphatic fluid build-up in body tissues.

This chronic condition results from damage to the lymph system caused by surgical removal of the lymph nodes, radiation therapy, traumatic injury, chronic venous insufficiency or genetic malformations. Swelling most often occurs in the arm or leg; however lymphedema can develop in the chest, back, neck, face, abdomen or genitals. Early assessment and treatment are key factors in preventing long-term complications and improving function.
