Speech-Language Pathologist

Emma S. Coiro, M.A.,CCC-SLP is a certified bilingual speech-language pathologist fluent in Spanish and English who specializes in aphasia, motor speech disorders (dysarthria and apraxia), and cognitive-communication impairments following non-traumatic and traumatic brain injury, and dysphagia in adult populations. She has work experience with outpatient pediatric speech and language therapy, acute care, acute rehabilitation, and skilled nursing. She has worked at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in both the inpatient and outpatient setting.

Coiro’s background includes extensive work with complex, medically fragile adults with neurological disorders as a result of stroke and brain injury in both acute care, acute rehabilitation, and outpatient settings. Her work in these various settings has significantly enhanced her understanding of how to facilitate a patient and a patient's family transition across the care continuum with empathy and understanding. She has trained and sought certification in the McNeal Dysphagia Therapy Program, Supported Conversation for Adults with Aphasia, EMST and Synchrony.
