Pastoral Care

To heal sometimes, to remedy often, to comfort always.”
—French proverb

Spiritual and emotional strength and support are important for healing. Community Medical Center’s Pastoral Care Department provides patients and their loved ones with a resource for spiritual care, offering compassion, counseling and guidance when they’re needed most.

The hospital’s chaplains are available for spiritual counseling and pastoral care, serving every patient regardless of faith. The Chapel, located on the first floor, is open at all times for people of all faiths for meditation and prayer.

Prayer request boxes are located on each floor. Daily requests are honored in the Chapel at 1:15 p.m.

For Roman Catholic patients, Holy Communion is offered every day, and the Sacrament of the Sick and other sacraments are given at all times. Persons of other religious denominations can also arrange to receive Holy Communion at their request.

Patients receive a booklet of specially chosen hospital prayers and scripture offering words of inspiration, guidance and solace during a hospital stay. Also available is the CareNotes series of publications that address a variety of spiritual topics, including a selection for cancer patients and their families.
