Pediatric Congenital Heart Disease Program

Because of improved treatment for kids with congenital heart disease (CHD), the vast majority of babies born with even the most complex heart defects are surviving into adulthood. Advancements in diagnosis, surgery, interventional procedures and medication mean that more and more children with heart defects are growing up to lead full, active lives as adults. However, each baby’s condition is unique. Some babies may not need immediate treatment. Others, may require emergency surgery depending on the type of congenital heart condition.

RWJBarnabas Health’s Pediatric Congenital Heart Disease program, available at the Children’s Hospital of New Jersey at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, is able to treat a variety of congenital conditions, from simple to complex, via the most advanced medical and surgical procedures.

The Children’s Heart Center at the Children's Hospital of New Jersey at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center is the state's largest, most comprehensive, and only heart center offering a complete range of diagnosis and medical and surgical treatment of children with heart problems, as well as expectant mothers whose fetus may have a heart problem.
