Professional Development

Department of Nursing Education and Research

Nursing CollageThe Department of Nursing Education and Research is guided by Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center’s mission, vision and values as well as our nursing professional practice model. We design, implement and evaluate professional development opportunities, conduct new hire and transfer onboarding, orientation and transition to practice, as well as provide clinical experiences for nursing students. We work with interdisciplinary and multiprofessional teams by sitting on committees, councils and cabinets in order to ensure our work is aligned with organizational, nursing and unit-based goals.

We provide educational activities in a variety of settings whether it be in a classroom, skills lab, simulation environment or on the unit. We foster learning and engagement through incorporation of innovation, technology and evidence based practice.

Over 90% of our continuing professional development courses, conferences and journal clubs provide nurses with contact hours.
