Those individuals in helping professions, such as Athletic Trainers (ATs) may be susceptible to excessive stress due to the demands of their positions. As such, it is important for ATs and other helping professionals to develop effective ways to manage and respond to stressors. This talk is intended to address the myriad of stressors faced by ATs and ways to cultivate stress management skills.

Objectives:

· Understand how life stressors can impact psychological and physical health

· Recognize negative patterns of reactivity triggered by stress, and how mindfulness-based strategies can serve as an alternative

· Learn about and be able to apply mindfulness-based strategies to manage stress and mental health concerns
