What Is Vascular Disease?

Vascular disease describes abnormalities in the circulatory system. Our arteries and veins carry blood throughout the body, delivering oxygen and nutrients to the body tissues and taking away tissue waste matter. Abnormalities can cause serious health issues. At Community Medical Center, our vascular specialists use noninvasive, minimally invasive and surgical procedures and therapies to eliminate or help patients manage these conditions.

Do I Need to See a Vascular Surgeon?

Vascular conditions are not always obvious. Many do not have any symptoms and people don’t realize they have them until a complication occurs. During your regular physical with your doctor, you should ask for an assessment of your vascular health. Your doctor can tell you whether or not a consultation with a vascular surgeon is necessary.

Vascular Surgery Services

Community Medical Center’s team of board-certified vascular surgeons provides outstanding care to patients with vascular disease. Our surgeons are among the most highly trained vascular specialists in the country. Each vascular surgeon is highly skilled in medical management, vascular medicine, traditional open surgical procedures, nonoperative treatments, minimally invasive endovascular procedures and hybrid approaches. They provide expert comprehensive care for a broad array of vascular diseases, tailored to each individual patient. CMC’s multidisciplinary team includes social workers, care coordinators, and others, who provide compassionate, high quality, coordinated care.

Will I Need Surgery?

If you are referred to a surgeon, this does not necessarily mean you will need surgery. Our vascular surgeons are experts on improving vascular health through various treatments, including noninvasive ones. Often, a preemptive visit with a surgeon can help you prevent the need for surgery.

Your vascular surgeon will decide on the best surgical approach for you — minimally invasive therapies or open surgery — based on several factors including:

  • The type of vascular disease and how severe it is
  • Age
  • Medical history
  • Lifestyle
  • Results of tests performed during your evaluation

Our Team

Our board-certified vascular surgeons and specialists use the latest, innovative diagnostic technologies to determine what issues our patients are facing and map out an effective course of treatment.
