The Children’s Health pediatric cardiology division of RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a dynamic pediatric cardiologist. This opportunity is ideal for a growth oriented pediatric cardiologist looking to join one of the most well-established programs in the state, consisting of a multidisciplinary team of 6 cardiologists, advanced practice nurses, nurses and echo technologists. Candidates with interest in medical education will become faculty of the Rutgers Health sponsored Newark Beth Israel Medical Center Pediatric Residency, with teaching opportunities at both CBMC and the Children’s Hospital of New Jersey at NBIMC.

RWJBarnabas health is the largest integrated health system in New Jersey.  This position is focused in the health system’s northern region, which consists of the Children’s Hospital of New Jersey at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, NJ (CHoNJ) and the McMullen Children’s Center at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ as well other ambulatory locations.

The Children’s Health Northern Division cardiovascular program is the most comprehensive cardiovascular program in New Jersey with:

  • A congenital cardiac surgical program affiliated with Columbia University
  • Comprehensive pediatric and adult congenital interventional cardiology
  • Advanced cardiac imaging (MRI and CT Scan)
  • Comprehensive noninvasive cardiac imaging for fetal, pediatric, and adult congenital cardiology
  • Noninvasive and invasive electrophysiology service
  • Exercise physiology laboratory
  • Expanding ambulatory practices

The Ideal Candidate Will Be:

  • Fellowship trained in Pediatric Cardiology
  • American Board of Pediatrics Certified/Eligible in Pediatric Cardiology
  • NJ licensed or eligible for NJ licensure

  • Children’s Hospital of New Jersey (CHoNJ),located at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, provides care for more than 30 specialized pediatric services, including Children’s Heart Center, which offers a complete range of medical, transcatheter interventions, and surgical correction for the most complex cardiac abnormalities.  Also located at this institution is New Jersey’s largest Valerie Fund Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders.  There is a 19 bed pediatric ICU staffed 24 hours a day by an attending pediatric intensivist.  It also includes a Level IV Regional Perinatal Center that offers New Jersey’s first Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) therapy and the highest level of intensive care for both mothers and newborns.
  • The Department of Pediatrics at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center offers a multidisciplinary team of experts, with an attending staff that includes more than 250 pediatric practitioners and an integrated residency program with CHoNJ, in nearly every subspecialty. Its new McMullen Children’s Center is a “hospital within a hospital”, designed to meet the medical and emotional needs of young patients. Pediatric inpatient services includes a 10-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. The Division of Pediatric Nephrology and Transplantation works closely with Cooperman Barnabas’ pediatric urologists – the most experienced Pediatric Renal Transplant Program in New Jersey.
