Oncology Social Work Services

Oncology social workers are part of your cancer care team. We provide counselling and additional supportive services to reduce stress for you and your family through all phases of your cancer treatment experience.

We can help you…

  • Cope with your diagnosis and the many emotions you may be experiencing
  • Connect with outside organizations and their programs and services
  • Connect with financial services
  • Obtain information about support groups and individual counseling

We can teach you about….

  • Communicating with your health care team
  • Talking to family, friends, employers and co-workers about your diagnosis
  • Reducing stress by utilizing relaxation techniques and applying coping skills
  • Cancer’s impact on intimacy and your relationship with yourself and your body
  • Living beyond the cancer diagnosis and other common survivorship concerns

We can assist with…..

  • Explaining and creating an Advance Directive
  • Information about hospice

These services are available at no charge. You can contact your social worker by calling the social work office at 908-685-2954. You may also request a referral through your healthcare team. Social workers are available Monday thru Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm.
