How to Become a Junior Volunteer

Junior Volunteer Service Requirements

  • Age: Minimum 15 years of age
  • Initial Informational Phone Call: Students will be called, by the Volunteer Resource Office, for brief interview after receipt of the Volunteer Interest Form - student will be placed on our waiting list if qualified.
  • Completed Application (provided after the initial phone screening).
    • Reference Forms: to be completed by H.S. guidance counselor, and one personal reference.
    • Medical Clearance
      • Medical Attestation Form (completed by personal physician) to include TB screening, immunization status, flu vaccine (during designated time frame), COVID vaccines and booster.
      • Urine Drug Screen (conducted at RWJ Corporate Care/Employee Health at no charge to the volunteer) after all medical documentation is received.
  • Completion of an Online Orientation Program: this includes important safety and regulatory information necessary for all volunteers. An in person meeting with the Volunteer Resource Department to review paperwork, arrange schedule and answer questions follows completion of this step.
  • Time Commitment: Volunteers are expected to serve a minimum of once per week and overall for one year or longer, according to set schedules.
  • Dress Code: Volunteer Polo, khaki pants and ID name badge provided by the hospital.
