As we age, our health needs might become more complex. Older adults are more susceptible to developing various chronic conditions which may lead to more visits to the doctor’s office and an increase in medication use. Join Monmouth University’s Occupational Therapy students for a weekly summer series designed to help improve the quality of life for older adults.
6/5: Session 1 - Technology for Health Management: For our first session, we will explore the role of technology in health management and share tips for staying safe online while using modern health-tracking equipment.
6/12: Session 2 - Keeping Busy: Exploring New Leisure Activities as We Age: For our second session, we will explore different leisure activities to help us stay busy, healthy, and active as we age.
6/19: Session 3 - Occupational Therapy Resources: Exploring ADL & DME Equipment : For our third session, we will explore the various ADL & DME equipment available to help improve your daily living.
6/26: Session 4 - Healthy Aging: Accessibility & Resources: For our fourth session, we will explore the resources available to you and discuss access to care as we age.
7/10: Session 5 - Caregiving for Others: For our fifth session, we will discuss the challenges we may face as we care for others, creating healthy boundaries, and making sure we leave time to take care of ourselves.
7/24: Session 6 - Aging in Place: For our sixth session, we will explore balance & fall prevention, cognitive rehabilitation training, bone & cardiac health, posture assessments, and supports that an occupational therapist can offer.
7/31: Session 7 - Being Productive: Healthy Aging Development Plan: For our final session, we will explore what makes a healthy development plan as we age to stay productive. This multifaceted approach considers physical, mental, and social needs to offer a comprehensive look at health.
