Volunteer Requirements

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Children’s Specialized Hospital! We accept applications and place volunteers on an ongoing basis throughout the year.

You must complete the following requirements before being placed as a volunteer. This generally takes about 4-6 weeks to complete:

  • Application – if you are under 18 years of age, a parent/guardian must sign your application.

  • Two (2) References – by someone who has known you for at least one year and they should not be a relative.

  • Medical Form – A medical form must be completed and signed by your primary care physician – the form will be provided to you at the time of your interview.

  • TB Tests - You must complete two (2) TB tests within the past year and they may not be more than 12 months apart – this can be done at our facility at no cost to you.

  • Drug Screening - You must complete a drug screening test – this must be done at our facility at no cost to you.

  • Flu Vaccine - Have your Influenza (Flu) Vaccine – if volunteering during flu season.

  • Background Check - Complete background check release forms – if you are 18 years or older, this form will be provided to you at the time of your interview. You will also need to provide you social security number.

  • Attend hospital orientation.

Following receipt of your application and two reference forms, you will be contacted for an interview for placement as positions becomes available. Interviews are held on an ongoing basis with dates scheduled by location, as needed. You will receive an invitation to interview by email when an interview session is established for your Children’s Specialized Hospital location of choice.

When you have completed the above-referenced requirements, you will be eligible for placement and we will contact you as volunteer positions/special events become available.

Volunteer Application

Due to current restrictions, we are not placing volunteers in our facilities until further notice. You may complete an application and we will contact you once the restrictions are lifted to continue the volunteer process.

Once you are placed we require a minimum of 30 volunteer service hours per year. Volunteers are placed between 2-4 hours on a weekly basis.

Only one application is necessary for multiple sites. Once you have completed the form, please click the continue button at the bottom.
