Oct 1, 2022 Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center Partners with The Mall at Short Hills to Celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month

This October, as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center (CBMC) and the Barnabas Health Ambulatory Care Center (ACC) are once again partnering with The Mall at Short Hills to raise awareness for breast health.

“Should I kick myself for not getting it [breast lump] checked earlier, well sure, however the battle is here, right now,” says Willa Edgerton-Chisler.

Willa is just one of the four inspiring breast cancer survivors who are being featured at The Mall at Short Hills through October 30, 2022. Visit The Faces of Breast Cancer, a striking display located in Grand Court and throughout the mall, showcasing the powerful stories of women who received their care at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center and reinforcing the partnership with Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey — the state’s only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. In addition, visit the 49 partner stores who will be prominently displaying a reminder for women to get their mammogram, and check out the fun selfie stations located around the mall. Snap a picture for a chance to win a prize, and remind friends and family to get their mammograms!

The newly renovated Breast Center at the Barnabas Health Ambulatory Care Center – one of the largest in the country – includes the state’s most technologically advanced, dedicated breast MRI, and a redesigned registration area with more privacy and improved efficiency. Providing care to more than 65,000 patients each year, breast health services include screening and diagnostic procedures for detecting breast cancer and pinpointing other suspicious areas in the breast.

Early detection is crucial for breast cancer and can improve a woman’s overall prognosis. Breast health is too important to wait. Visit www.rwjbh.org/mammo to schedule a mammogram, and spread the word on social media.
