Catherine Goodheart, RN, MPA, CIC

Vice President of Clinical Effectiveness

Catherine Goodheart is responsible for all hospital and long-term care regulatory, licensure and accreditation standards mandated by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS), the New Jersey Department of Health and The Joint Commission. The role involves continuous focus on patient safety and risk reduction initiatives, as well as the timely reporting of performance improvement data available on public websites.

Mrs. Goodheart started with RWJ Rahway as a staff nurse in 1979. She then assumed the role of Infection Control Practitioner for 10 years before assuming her current role in 2000. She is accountable for multiples departments and services including the Quality Department, Medical Staff Department, Case Management, Social Service, Infection Control, Health Science Library, Continuing Medical Education and the Gain Sharing Program.

Prior to joining RWJ Rahway, Mrs.Goodheart was the Nurse Manager for an Ambulatory Nursing Unit at Clara Maass Hospital in Belleville and a staff nurse at JFK Hospital in Edison, where she worked on various patient care units.

Mrs. Goodheart received her RN Nursing Diploma from Mountainside Hospital School of Nursing and her BS from Upsala College in East Orange. She received her Master’s in Public Administration from Kean University in Union. She maintains her Certification in Infection Prevention through the Certification Board of Infection Control (CBIC).

Mrs. Goodheart belongs to the Association of Professional Infection Preventionist and the HealthCare Quality Professionals of New Jersey. She is also a member of the Mountainside Hospital Alumni Association and Pi Alpha Alpha Society for Public Affairs and Administration of Kean University.
