Christopher Z NJ Man’s Happiness Restored through Innovative Bariatric Surgery

“I’m just able to do more and enjoy life better.”

At 575 pounds, patient Christopher Zieniewicz struggled with severe obesity that left him with debilitating joint pain and a number of other medical issues that significantly impacted his quality of life. He decided to meet with Ragui Sadek, MD, Director of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery, and Siddharth Kudav, MD, General and Bariatric Surgeon at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.

After losing some of the weight on his own, Christopher underwent an initial bariatric procedure in an effort to prepare him for a secondary surgery which would help him achieve a healthy weight. Dr. Sadek and Dr. Kudav then performed a duodenal switch – a new innovation that combines the benefits of a surgical sleeve and a gastric bypass – helping Christopher to lose over 100 pounds and counting.
