Marie Marie's Story

I have spent most of my 95 years living in Belleville and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Clara Maass Medical Center is such an important part of our community and also my family. From the birth of my third child, through the care of my husband, and most recently being there for me after a fall, Clara has always taken good care of us.

The team at Clara is like one big, happy family. They are all wonderful. From housekeeping and dining services, to specialized nurses, technicians and physicians, the staff is caring, concerned and focused on keeping our community healthy. They have gone above and beyond for me and my family and for that I am so grateful.

I feel very strongly about giving back to make sure the best health care continues to be available for all members of our community. For more than 30 years, I have been a volunteer at Clara Maass and a member of the hospital Auxiliary. Through vendor sales and other events, the Auxiliary raises significant funds for the Medical Center and I have seen firsthand the impact donors can have. Your support truly does make a difference.

Reading to pediatric patients and providing newborns with knitted hats have both been highlights of my time volunteering at Clara. I have also had the opportunity to be involved in many successful fundraisers. During my tenure with the Auxiliary, we started the annual holiday tree lighting, menorah lighting and Kwanzaa ceremony. We also created a very successful cookbook that was sold to raise significant funds to support the hospital.

Having Clara Maass close by when I need it is very reassuring. Over the years, I have seen many changes and additions to the physical building. But, through periods of growth and change, the care continues to be the best. Generous donations to Clara Maass Medical Center make this possible.
