The Program

At RWJBarnabas Health, we care about your mental health as well as your physical health during your pregnancy and after the delivery of your baby.

The Center for Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders, part of RWJBarnabas Health Medical Group, treats women and families who are pregnant, postpartum struggling from infertility, or who are coping with the loss of a baby.

Our treatment program includes evidence-based psychotherapy, support groups and medication management as well as complimentary therapies such as infant massage and Mommy & Me music classes to encourage bonding in a safe, judgement free space.

Patients are supported through a multidisciplinary team of maternal mental health experts from psychiatry, nursing and social work.

All of our clinicians are certified in perinatal mental health by Postpartum Support International.

PMAD Treatment

We know that the best treatment for postpartum depression and postpartum anxiety is delivered through a combination of approaches. This may include individual therapy, medication, support group therapy or all three.

We also offer a private Facebook community dedicated to our PMAD population that provides a peer-to-peer support system.

Most insurance plans cover these appointments, although a copayment may be required. We offer treatment up until 1 year postpartum.
