The Vascular Institute

The Vascular Institute at Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus (MMCSC) provides a wide range of therapies to treat the vast scope of vascular conditions. MMCSC’s health care professionals work collaboratively to determine individualized treatment plans for each patient.

Vascular Institute
Left: A patient suffered from blockages in leg arteries, preventing blood flow and causing
severe leg pain. The patient had trouble walking. Right: The blockages were cleared and
stents were placed, restoring blood flow. The patient can now walk without any pain.

MMCSC’s vascular interventionists offer expertise in the combined use of endovascular and open surgical techniques in treating patients with:

  • Abdominal/thoracic aortic aneurysms (AAA, TAA)
  • Carotid arterial disease
  • Mesenteric arterial/venous vascular disease
  • Peripheral vascular disease (PVD) or peripheral artery disease (PAD)
  • Advanced renal disease (including comprehensive hemodialysis access procedures and maintenance)
  • Venous disease/insufficiency (DVT, varicose veins)

They take a multidisciplinary approach to care, combining the best skills from many other medical and surgical specialties, streamlining the process for patients, improving efficiency, patient satisfaction, and most importantly, patient care outcomes.

Services include:

  • AAA Therapies
  • Carotid artery disease intervention
  • Consultative care for vascular problems
  • Hemodialysis access
  • Inferior vena cava filter procedures
  • Limb salvage program
  • Medical management of vascular disease
  • Port/access procedures for chemotherapy
  • Temporal artery biopsy
  • Venous care

Diagnosing vascular disorders requires advanced tools. The Vascular Institute at MMCSC offers patients convenient access to a host of advanced outpatient diagnostic imaging/testing procedures, including:

  • Vascular duplex ultrasound
  • Pulse Volume Recording (PVR)
  • Tissue capillary oxygen pressure (TCPO2) measurement

Treatments for vascular disease may require medical management, endovascular (interventional) treatments, surgical procedures and preventative care strategies. Often treatments will involve more than one approach, including medical management, hybrid interventional/surgical care, physical therapy and exercise. This philosophy is the backbone of multidisciplinary comprehensive care. Other treatment options include:

  • Aneurysm repairs
  • Angioplasty
  • Endarterectomy
  • Endovenous ablation
  • Varicose vein management
  • Vascular bypass
