Apr 22, 2026 The Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey Awards $400,000 Grant to Clara Maass Medical Center to Support Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory

Belleville, NJ, April 22, 2026 — The Clara Maass Medical Center, an affiliate of RWJBarnabas Health, has been awarded a $400,000 grant from The Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey (HFNJ) to support the renovation of its cardiac catheterization laboratory and enhance access to advanced heart care for the community.

The grant—the largest awarded by the Foundation in its first quarter of 2026—will fund the purchase of a Philips Azurion 7 M20 FlexArm imaging system, a state-of-the-art technology that enables physicians to perform complex cardiac and vascular procedures with real-time, high-resolution imaging.

Clara Maass Medical Center is currently undertaking a broader $4.3 million renovation of its cardiac catheterization laboratory. This investment will ensure that patients—particularly those served by the hospital’s safety-net mission—have access to the highest quality cardiac care close to home.

“This generous grant from The Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey represents a transformative investment in the health of our community,” said Thomas M. Burke, BPharm, MBA

Chief Administrative Officer, Clara Maass Medical Center. “By modernizing our cardiac catheterization laboratory with advanced imaging technology, we are enhancing our ability to deliver lifesaving, minimally invasive procedures with greater precision and improved outcomes for our patients.”

The new imaging platform will serve as the centerpiece of the upgraded lab, supporting physicians in diagnosing and treating a wide range of cardiovascular conditions with increased accuracy and efficiency.

The Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey awarded more than $2.19 million in grants and core operating support in the first quarter of 2026 to organizations across the region, reinforcing its mission to improve the health and well-being of underserved populations.
