Dec 21, 2022 A Dose of Holiday Joy: Community Medical Center and Friends Make Large Donation to Toys for Tots

Community Medical Center (CMC), an RWJBarnabas Health facility, donated hundreds of toys to Toys for Tots in 2022. While CMC staff have made participation in a holiday toy drive an annual tradition at the Toms River-based hospital, this is the second year the Veterans Engaging Through Service Business Resource Group (VETS BRG) and the Office of Diversity & Inclusion organized the Toys for Tots donation.

In addition to both CMC staff and residents participating, several of the hospital’s longtime vendors and contractors also got into the holiday spirit and donated nearly $7,000 towards the purchase of gifts. PMC Mechanical provided the “sleigh” to transport presents to the Toys for Tots warehouse in addition to a large donation of gifts.

The toys will be distributed through the U.S. Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots to local social welfare agencies, church groups, and other local community agencies to children and families in our area. The VETS BRG is a team of Community Medical Center staff who help to raise awareness and advocate for topics important to veteran employees and patients. Previously, the group has organized honorary breakfasts for veterans, guest speaker events, a veteran memorial wall in the hospital, and a veteran recognition program for admitted veteran patients at CMC.
