NEWARK, NJ – (February 13, 2020) Spirit of Children, the philanthropic arm of Spirit Halloween, presented the Children's Hospital of New Jersey (CHoNJ) at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center with a $83,006 grant to support the medical center’s Child Life Program which uses therapeutic and emotional healing to effect patient care.

This is the eleventh donation from the foundation. Donations from Spirit Halloween and Spirit of Children have made a huge difference for CHoNJ patients by greatly helping families navigate through challenging medical situations and hospital stays.

“Spirit of Children has shown a steadfast commitment to our program and to our mission of providing high quality, compassionate care to our patients,” said Darrell K. Terry, Sr., MHA, MPH, FACHE, President and Chief Executive Officer, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of New Jersey.

The funds provide vital support to the Child Life program that includes the addition of Child Life specialists, educational equipment, iPads and distraction toys for use during procedures as well as toys created specifically for physical and developmental limitations. Their donations have also helped the Child Life program expand their services in the Pediatric Emergency Department at CHoNJ. To date, the Spirit of Children program has raised well over $600,000 for CHoNJ.
