About Danielle King, MPH (She/her)
Babs Siperstein PROUD Center Coordinator/LGBTQ+ Patient Navigator

Danielle King has been a dedicated advocate for underserved communities for more than 10 years, providing health education and self-empowerment to individuals from all walks of life.

Danielle is a Veteran of the U.S Marine Corps. Her experience during “don’t ask, don’t tell” motivated Danielle to pursue her Master of Public Health degree in Health Education/Behavioral Science and Epidemiology from Rutgers University, School of Public Health. She is also a State of New Jersey-certified counselor and risk reduction specialist.

As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, Danielle wanted to be a part of bridging the gap between the LGBTQ+ community and the healthcare system due to her own negative experience. During her time at Rutgers she published a paper on gay men’s experience in the healthcare system and began working for the Hyacinth Foundation as an HIV tester/counselor and as a policy associate. She created programs for clients and staff that inspired both professional and personal development and advocated for legislation. Danielle also worked at Rutgers University H.O.P.E., which provided students with essential health information.

Danielle is currently employed at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) Somerset as the Babs Siperstein PROUD Center Coordinator/LGBTQ+ Patient Navigator. She sits on the New Jersey Governor’s LGBTQ+ taskforce and is the Co-chair of RWJUH Somerset’s PROUD Business Resource Group, which helps bring LGBTQ+ staff together. She is currently pursuing a certification in Healthcare Management through Rutgers University.

Danielle says, “My greatest joy is being a part of a patient’s journey, seeing them transform and blossom into the person they truly are. There is no bigger prize than a smile at the end of hard path and at the PROUD Center we absolutely work hard to get to that smile - I love what we do.”
