Pediatric Urology

The Bristol-Myers Squibb Children's Hospital (BMSCH) at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital is home to our world-class Pediatric Urology Program. Under the direction of Dr. Joseph G. Barone, this program serves to diagnose and treat urological problems in children, newborn through early adulthood. We also have the unique ability to diagnose some conditions even before birth.

We are proud to bring to you and your child one of only a few programs in the country with a focus on comprehensive diagnosis and treatment for bedwetting and other urinary incontinent problems.

Our Pediatric Urology Center also offers treatments for:

  • Hernia and hydrocele
  • Vesicoureteral reflux (the backward flow of urine)
  • Ureteropelvic junction obstruction (kidney blockage)
  • Hypospadias
  • Voiding dysfunction and infection

For children who require surgery, child life nurses are available to assist. A child life nurse is a comforting and informed resource for your family, who will tell your child what they can expect during their hospital stay and help make it a more positive experience.

Parents and guardians, we know this can be an unsettling time for you as well. Take comfort in knowing you may accompany your child to the operating room. You can be there for your child in the post-op recovery room. And, if your child is staying overnight, so can you... right in his or her room.
