About Our Development Department
Who We Are
The Newark Beth Israel Medical Center Development Department is a public non-profit that was established in 1985 to foster philanthropic individual and grant support from individuals, corporations and foundations to support world-class medical care for the patients of Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Children's Hospital of New Jersey.
Through the generosity of caring supporters, our Development Department provides support for the most technologically advanced medical services, equipment, and research, protecting and improving the health of the region. Newark Beth Israel Medical Center (NBIMC) is an acute care, teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Medicine and Dentistry in Newark, NJ. Founded in 1901, “The Beth,” as it is fondly known, is located in the south ward of the city of Newark, New Jersey’s largest city. NBIMC is an affiliate of RWJBarnabas Health, the state’s largest and most diversified health care system.
Home of our Heart Center at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of New Jersey, NBIMC provides comprehensive health-care services to members of its local communities and beyond. It is a major referral and treatment center for patients throughout the northern New Jersey metropolitan area and is the only Medicare-certified medical center in the state performing heart transplants. The Beth is 1 of 80 U.S. hospitals providing a full spectrum of adult and pediatric cardiac care. NBIMC is the site of the first kidney transplant program in New Jersey.
