New Maternal Health Facility Demonstrates a Long-Term Commitment to a Diverse and Growing Community

Lord, Abbett & Co. LLC (“Lord Abbett”), an independent, privately held investment management firm announced the establishment of the Lord Abbett Maternity Wing at the Jersey City Medical Center through a $1million donation. The new 17,500 square-foot, state-of-the-art facility will have 20 private rooms designed to promote bonding and provide the best outcomes for newborns, mothers, and families.

Announcing the Lord Abbett Maternity Wing to an audience of senior Jersey City Medical Center staff, local officials, and Lord Abbett employees, Douglas B. Sieg, Managing Partner of Lord Abbett said, “As a firm celebrating our 90th Anniversary, we believe that the strength of our firm is its people, and the strength of our people is family. We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Jersey City Medical Center and the greater community, which will fund and initiate the founding of the Lord Abbett Maternity Wing.”

Michael Prilutsky, President & CEO, Jersey City Medical Center, acknowledged Lord Abbett’s commitment to this significant project, stating, “Lord Abbett is an outstanding member of the Jersey City business community, and we are here to provide for the business community and the community at large. The Lord Abbett Maternity Wing is designed to serve the needs of New Jersey’s fastest-growing city. Dr. Lance Bruck, Vice President & Chairman, Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Women’s Health, Jersey City Medical Center, said, “Our vision is to create an environment where every woman who decides to deliver at our hospital will have a private room where she can heal after giving birth, bond with her newborn and immediate family, and spend time together with her extended family.”

As a firm that has helped families with generational transfers of wealth since 1929, the creation of the new Lord Abbett Maternity Wing aligns with our commitment to nurturing future generations in the Jersey City community. The development of the Lord Abbett Maternity Wing will begin in February and is expected to be completed in late 2019.
