Ioannis Kontopidis, MD

Dr. Ioannis Kontopidis is a board-certified thoracic surgeon specializing in robotic-assisted and minimally invasive thoracic surgery. He earned his medical degree from the University of Athens in Greece and completed training in General Surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital and the University of Vermont, followed by a fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Wake Forest University. As a key member of the Rutgers Health Thoracic Oncology Program, Dr. Kontopidis provides surgical expertise for complex cases involving lung, esophageal, and mediastinal tumors. He is also a recipient of the prestigious Graham Foundation Fellowship in Thoracic Surgical Robotics from the American Association for Thoracic Surgery. His research contributions have been published in several peer-reviewed journals, and he continues to advance innovation in thoracic oncology and surgical robotics.
