About the Unit

CAD2 is a 14-bed adolescent unit, located in the Bristol-Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital on the second floor. All patient rooms are private rooms with built-in sleeping areas for the parents.

Patient population

The CAD2 nursing staff cares for patients from 12 to 21 years of age. These diagnoses include, but are not limited to conditions related to the following sub-specialties: neurology, pulmonary, urology, surgery, trauma, orthopedics, gastroenterology, nephrology, rheumatology, psychiatry, cardiology and endocrinology.

Patient Care Needs

Promoting family centered care is a top priority. Child Life services are available 7 days-a-week. Our nurses are skilled clinicians, able to care for all the patient’s many highly technical needs.

About Our Nurses

Nursing care is provided by professional registered nurses competent in the care of pediatric patients. Our pediatric nurses are held to very high standards. Each pediatric nurse is skilled in starting intravenous lines (IVs) and caring for central lines. All nurses are required to have CPR and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications. In addition, some nurses have attained an additional certification in their specialty, Pediatrics, from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
