Ellen Stein, MD joined the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital New Brunswick as Director of Motility in 2021. The motility nursing team has expanded to 6 motility nurses trained in patient-friendly care and the latest motility testing techniques. The Rutgers Gastroenterology motility-focused team includes Dr. Stein, Svetlana Jayson - lead Nurse Practitioner, experienced schedulers and nursing clinical support.
Dr. Stein has a long career in treating disorders of gut-brain interaction. She has been featured at national and international conferences on motility disorders. She currently serves as the Secretary of the World Congress of Specialized Study of the Esophagus International Conference in Versailles, France. She was selected as a moderator for Digestive Diseases Week in Chicago, 2026. The American Gastroenterology Association Ethics Committee honored her for 3 years of service to the Committee as a valued member in April 2026.

We partner with pediatric colleagues for a pediatric-to-adult transition for children with complex needs such as those with autism.
