As Summer approaches, many of us focus on physical wellness. That may be looking our best for the many Summer outings, making sure we are protecting our skin from the sun, or enjoying an abundance of fruit and vegetables that are freshest during the summer. We often think of wellness as simply looking and feeling good. However, that is only one piece of the puzzle.
Wellness involves both physical and mental/emotional wellbeing. It’s called the mind-body connection, which is the way our mental and emotional wellness influences our physical health and vice versa. So, focusing on mental and emotional wellbeing will help you achieve your physical health goals.
There are a few core ways to improve your mental wellness, understanding the connection is a start, then prioritizing the 3 basics of self-care: Eat nutritious food, get at least 7 hours of sleep and get some exercise each day. To take your wellness to the next level, check out the Wellness Toolkits below.
For help improving your mind-body connection, call One Source EAP at (800) 300-0628, anytime of the day or night, your call will be answered by trained specialists.
