August 2026: Creating Calm with Yoga

We’ve all been in situations where tension from one person seems to spread to everyone in the room. While tension is contagious, so is calm. Think about what, or who, broke the tension. Was that person innately calm? Probably not. He or she likely practices calming techniques on a regular basis to help create calm in their own lives. In stressful situations, they spread their calm to others.

Creating calm acts as a foundation for mental and physical health that encourages mindfulness and self-awareness, enhances creativity and decision making and creates that contagious positivity. But, it takes practice.

One great way to create calm is through yoga. Yoga can leave you calmer, more energized, and mentally quieter. Yoga-style breathing causes a reduction in your heart rate, blood pressure, and fight-or-flight system. Over time, yoga helps your baseline mood and reduces stress levels so you can pass calm to others. See the “8 Benefits of Doing Yoga,” below.

Should you need help finding calm, call One Source EAP at (800) 300-0628, anytime of the day or night, your call will be answered by trained specialists.
