Ann Marie Shears, RN, MA, NE-BC

Vice President Patient Services, Chief Nursing Officer

In her role as Vice President, Patient Services and Chief Nursing Officer, Ann Marie Shears, MA, RN, NE-BC, oversees RWJ Rahway’s clinical operations, with focused attention to clinical quality, patient safety and patient satisfaction.

Prior to her posting, Ms. Shears had served as the hospital’s Director of Nursing Operations, where she helped shepherd the hospital’s Operation Excellence, which focuses on strategic planning and developing meaningful metrics for hospital growth and quality. She also helped implement the hospital’s Knowledge-Based Medication Administration System.

The Denville resident came to RWJ Rahway with a strong background in leadership at acute care hospitals, both large and small. Throughout her career, she has focused on providing the highest quality care, improving the patient experience and process, and mentoring nurses.

Before joining RWJ Rahway Ms. Shears was Vice President of Clinical Services at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, a 520-bed acute-care hospital. Prior that she was Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer at Warren Hospital, a 214 bed rural community hospital in Phillipsburg. She has also served as Vice President of Patient Care Services, CNO at PBI Regional Medical Center in Passaic, a 264-bed acute care hospital.

The mother of three boys, Ms. Shears has a BSN from Jersey City State College and a Master’s in Nursing Administration from New York University. She is a member of the Organization of Nurse Executives and the American Association of Critical Care Nursing.
