Emergency Medical Associates

Emergency Medical Associates (EMA) currently provides emergency department management services to 22+ hospitals in New Jersey and New York, and will see over 1 million patients in 2008. For over 30 years, EMA has been recognized for their ability to take over the management of an emergency department and grow volume, ensure the highest level of clinical care, turn around ED operations and improve and sustain patient satisfaction.

EMA is one of the country's premier democratically structured emergency physician groups, which has enabled EMA to recruit and retain some of the finest emergency physicians in the country. EMA currently employs over 600 providers.

EMA physicians serve on high-level national committees within the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), Society of Academic Emergency Medicine (SAEM), American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM) and the American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians (ACOEP).

EMA physicians are very academic in nature and have collectively published and presented over 800+ articles in internationally recognized research journals and publications. EMA physicians lecture on key topics at numerous medical and professional conferences regionally, nationally and internationally. EMA has been a featured provider in The Advisory Board’s ED publications on “Best Practices.”

EMA started the first 24/7 EMS Fellowship (EMA MD-1TM) in the state of New Jersey in 2005. They provide medical director control and education to a significant portion of New Jersey’s EMS community and an ever-increasing percentage of EMS in the state of New York. In addition, EMA physicians provide leadership on both a regional and National level in EMS provider education.

EMA has extensive experience in developing pediatric emergency departments, observation centers, hyperbaric centers, hospitalist programs, primary care/urgent care centers and retail health care.

Electronic Clinical Information Systems

EMA developed the country’s first Emergency Department-specific electronic medical record, known as Emergency Department Information Manager(EDIM), over 20 years ago. To date, EDIM, which is in use at over 25 emergency departments in the United States, has documented over 12 million consecutive ED patient encounters. Additionally, EMA is the recognized national leader in Emergency Department Business Intelligence,™ which allows the analysis of data pertaining to an emergency department’s, clinical, operational, financial and risk reduction performance.
