The Institute for Nursing Excellence’s Simulation Program provides innovative, high-fidelity education designed to strengthen clinical judgment, teamwork, and patient safety across the health system. Using realistic clinical environments, advanced simulation technology and structured debriefing, learners engage in hands-on experiences that bridge the gap between classroom learning and clinical practice in a safe, risk-free setting. By integrating simulation into systemwide education strategies, RWJBarnabas Health strengthens the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care.
Program Mission: The RWJBarnabas Health Simulation program enhances patient care, education, and research through innovative simulation training. We focus on improving clinical skills and teamwork, addressing all aspects of health to prepare healthcare professionals for exceptional care.

Accreditation: The Institute for Nursing Excellence has Provisional Accreditation from the Society for Simulation in Healthcare™. This accreditation is internationally recognized as the gold standard for simulation programs, showing a commitment to excellence by providing high-quality simulation experiences that lead to better patient outcomes. The Institute for Nursing Excellence's Simulation Program, which opened in December of 2023, demonstrated the established structure and processes in place required for the rigorous accreditation process, but had not yet been open long enough to apply for full accreditation.
Simulation Educator Professional Development
The Foundations of Simulation course provides educators with the essential knowledge and practical skills needed to design, facilitate, and evaluate high-quality simulation-based learning experiences. Through structured education and experiential learning, the program promotes consistency in simulation practices and supports the delivery of learner-centered education. Healthcare Simulationist Code of Ethics
The Institute for Nursing Excellence Simulation Program has adopted the Healthcare Simulationist Code of Ethics and uses this code to ensure our quality and ethical practices of simulation. The values outlined include integrity, transparency, mutual respect, professionalism, accountability and results orientation.
