Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in conjunction with The Leon and Toby Cooperman JCC in West Orange, NJ, offers an innovative program designed to address the unique needs of individuals with Parkinson’s disease and other neuromuscular/movement disorders.

This program is just one example of how JCC MetroWest and Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center are working together to provide specialized health and wellness services to the community.

Tai Chi Chih is a set of movements completely focused on the development of an intrinsic energy called Chi.

  • Strength Training -- a proven method for improvement of balance, slowness, tremor, and rigidity. 
  • Parkinson's Support Group – a group for those with Parkinson’s and other neuromuscular/movement disorders to talk, share and learn from each other.
  • Parkinson's Caregiver Support Group - for those caring for a loved one with Parkinson’s and other neuromuscular/movement disorders.
  • Parkinson's Early Onset Support Group - for individuals around 60 or younger who have been diagnosed with Early Onset Parkinson’s disease. Support focuses on topics relating to active lifestyle, employment and family.
  • Sing for Your Health - an innovative program, designed for individuals with Parkinson's and other neuromuscular/movement disorders, focuses on vocal training and tips, sound healing and meditation and singing for joy!
